All around a positive experience for a delicious night out. The food was unique and delicious. Honestly I was impressed with how filling it was compared to other fixed menu places I have visited. The chef was personal and easy to about the ingredients, inspiration and experiences. The entrance to the building was under renovation when we went so it was a little difficult to find at first. No question, it is pricey but I felt satisfied with what was offered.
We had the pleasure to enjoy the private dining experience last week. Everything was absolute perfection. We’ve tried many Omakase restaurants in different cities and this was better than anything we’ve ever tried. Hard to believe this is in Chicago! Service was great and chatting with the chef was unpretentious, interesting and very fun. We would definitely recommend the wine pairing ($100 per person). The wines and sake were well chosen and complimented the menu very well.
Expensive? Yes. Worth it? Absolutely. I would always return if I had the chance.
Plus - which restaurants makes you some sushi to go to enjoy for breakfast the next morning? :-)
My friends and I went for omakase and had the most amazing time. We have now officially been to every omakase in the city and this was hands down the best one. I cannot say enough wonderful things about Otto Phan. If you are considering going to Kyoten, it is 100% worth every penny. The dishes were unique, seasonal, and mouth watering. The sake was hand picked with care and amazing attention to detail. Otto Phan made it a once in a lifetime experience.
This is my second time dining here. Chef Phan has taken what was already the best omakase in Chicago and elevated it to one of the best omakase experiences anywhere. So many interesting and unique courses and unexpected flavors ... this is multiple michelin star worthy dining. The new menu is pricey, but your group will have the entire restaurant to itself for the evening, and the value in the ingredients and execution is absolutely there. Can’t recommend highly enough.
Best experience ever!
We went for our wedding anniversary and we were blown away by food and experience. It's about 3 hours of private dining, and every dish was unique and delicious. If you are looking for a special dining experience, this is the place you gotta check it out.
Amazing evening with the best sushi we have ever had! Chef Otto was engaging and personable. Very intimate dining experience with the highest quality ingredients. Would very highly recommend and would go back without a doubt!
We had an absolutely amazing time. Chef Phan was extremely personable and engaging which made the experience so much better than other omakase that we have had. Food was delightful and every bite an artistic expression.
The best sushi restaurant in chicago!! Every dishes are delicate flavors. My boyfriend and I have been to so many sushi restaurants in Japan and America. This restaurant is in my top five favorite sushi restaurants of all time.
The reason why not five stars is about interior design.
But again, Kyoten is the best sushi restaurant in Chicago!!
